An opportunity to geek out...

Holy Smokes.  This was the coolest thing we have done in LA.  We went to the California Science Center where they house the Endeavour Space Shuttle.  Such an amazing opportunity to see a piece of American History.  I don't think the kids realized what they were looking at, but I sure did.

They had old jets on display out front of the center...
...and old space capsules inside.  The center was three stories of one cool display after the other.

Playing with infrared cameras...
Building arches...
Learning about sound travel....
Before you get to see the shuttle you go through a mini-museum about the history and so forth. These are the wheels of the Endeavour.  You wouldn't believe the wear on the tread!
Space Potty

Jane tried to hang in there.  :)
Ok, so back to the museum part.  They had areas for each of the different climates.  Here we are in the desert.
They had one of the prettiest tanks.  It was huge and we got to watch a presentation by a scuba diver.
Glow in the dark jelly fish!
