Tar pits and rockets

Ok guys, this is probably the last post for a little while.  Bent started school today (Monday), which means that "real life" is kicking in.  The kids and I will be staying home mostly...doing a little summer school, swim lessons, and grocery shopping.  Brent will be studying and going to class.  So this past Saturday we decided to seize one last opportunity to do some sight-seeing and soak up the last hours of California vacation.  We went first to the Tar Pit.

The sign that was posted said that tar seeps up from the ground and over the many, many years has trapped animals.  Excavation started in the early 1900's and they have uncovered tons (literally) of fossils including plants, insects, and large mammals.  In certain parts of the park they are still uncovering fossils.

We let the kids pick out a little dino from the gift shop.

I just had to take a picture of the street.  It looked like something out of a movie.  The tar pits are near Beverly Hills and we crossed over Sunset to get there.
Then we made it back to our part of town and ate at a cute little soda shop called Johnny Rockets.  It was a fifties-inspired diner that sold burgers and shakes.  :)

As we get back into a routine and the reality that we are not heading back to Texas after a week of vacation sinks in, we would appreciate your prayers.  Please pray for Brent as he studies - that he would learn more about the Lord and that would lead to more worship of the King.  Please pray for me as I stay home - that I would stay in the Word and love my kids and that would lead to more worship of the King.
Love from California!
