Big News!

This past weekend, Brent was ordained at Calvary Bible Church! The whole experience was so wonderful and it was so awesome to see God's hand in everything. Brent has been studying for months and he wrote a 10 page paper on everything he believes (doesn't that just SOUND overwhelming). Then, this past Saturday, he had an oral exam in front of a board of questioners (the elders plus one) and anyone else that wanted to come and ask questions - it was open to the public. So, for 2 hours and 20 minutes, he was answered questions on not only doctrine, but on his personal life and walk with God as well. I was so proud of Brent and so moved to see the wisdom that God has been so gracious to bestow set on display. I know that this is mercy and love that God is showing us. I feel so blessed to have such a godly husband that is so dedicated to studying the Bible and to living it out in every aspect of his life. I feel so safe and so trusting of Brent knowing that the man that is leading our family is resting so fully on God and putting Him first in his life. This weekend was very emotional for us as before Pastor Dan and the elders ordained Brent, he preached a sermon charging Brent and me with the responsibility of leading the flock. We are so humbled by this calling and we are so excited and so passionate about the path that lies ahead. Praise the Lord for his goodness and faithfulness and may we be found faithful as we serve Him daily with our thougths, words and actions. To Him be the glory for ever and ever. We went out to dinner with Brent's aunt, uncle, cousins, parents and Gramma.

Botanical Gardens

Last week on Brent's day off we went to the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens. It was a little hot, but still so much fun. Peter was still a little too young to appreciate God's beautiful flowers and plants, so I am sure that here in a few months you will see another blog of us at the gardens again. But the walk was great. They have added a few things since we were there last and it was so good to get some fresh air. We have had a pretty wet summer, so everything was in bloom and looking gorgeous. Peter is still trucking along with his eating schedule. He started green beans the other day. I was warned that kids don't always like the green veggies and boy, were they right! Peter gagged and sputtered and looked at me with such displeasure! The next day, however, he liked them much better and was able to eat more. :) Next week the ladies Bible study starts that I am leading. Please pray for me that I would glorify God each week and that the study would bring us all closer to God as we serve our families, church and Creator.
Already climbing trees. :)
Peter fell asleep in his stroller during our walk on one of the trails.
Peek a boo!
They built a new board walk that was so pretty to walk through.

Ferry Ride

I know it has been such a long time since our last blog! I'm so sorry! Things at the Osterberg's have been wonderful! Peter has loved eating solid foods. He has eaten rice cereal, oatmeal and squash. He LOVED the squash! He just sat there in concentration and waited for the next spoonful. Usually he grabs at the spoon or makes a mess. We will let him try sweet potatoes tomorrow. :)

I went down to Houston this past week with Peter to see my mom and dad. We had a great time! We took Peter to ride the ferry that is in Galveston. Some of my favorite memories as a little girl were riding the ferry and feeding the sea gulls. This was Peter's first time on a boat! I think he really liked it. He wasn't laughing or anything, but he was looking around as fast as he could with great interest. We also went shopping and had a great time of being together and letting my parents enjoy some "Peter time". Peter also was introduced to Corky, my childhood dog, and Kizzie, my parent's new Chihuahua.

Brent stayed behind in Fort Worth because his friend, Chris, who is a missionary, was staying at our house and visiting our church. Brent said they had a very blessed time and were able to have some very good conversations about our Lord and His greatness! Praise the Lord that we are all back together again and that He willed our safe return!
