Yummy in the tummy!

At our doctor's visit last Friday, we were given the go ahead to give Peter solid foods! We didn't know what to expect...we were told that some babies have a hard time with it at first. But Peter proved to be his father's son by instantly gulping down the food that was given to him. :) He caught on very quickly and soon the whole bowl of runny rice cereal was gone. He kicked his little feet in excitement and even started to lean toward the spoon as Brent held it out to him. It was so cute! We start oatmeal next week, barley after that and then the exciting world of fruits and veggies. I am so glad that it seems as though Peter will be a hearty eater!

Weekend trip!

We were blessed by some close friends of ours with a gift certificate to a bed and breakfast in Godley, TX. We went this past weekend and had a wonderful time! The b and b was located about 30 miles from Grandbury, it was called the Inn at Windhill Ranch. It was an actual working ranch complete with cows and chickens. I like to think that Peter realized he was seeing something out of the ordinary. :) We checked in on Sunday night and we got comfy in our room then we went into Grandbury for dinner and a view of the lake. We relaxed in the common room of the bed and breakfast later that night. We were the only ones there, so it was extra peaceful. In the morning we had homemade (not by me!) breakfast on the beautiful front porch. God gave us some wonderful weather- it was breezy and about 72 degrees! What a glorious morning. Peter loves being outside. He would "coo" at the wind and smile as we talked to him. We would recommend this b and b to anyone. The hospitality was great, the food was yummy and the countryside is just what we "city folk" need to remember just how creative the Lord of all creation is!

Happy Birthday, Annie!

Some of our dear friends, Matt and Emily, had the privilege of experiencing God's amazing power of creation and birth on August 13th. Little Annie Scheffler was born at 2:06 am weighing in at 8 pounds, 14 ounces! Brent and I got to go and visit the family in the hospital and we brought Peter along. We jokingly call Annie his "girlfriend". :) Emily looked beautiful and Annie is just as cute as she could be! Praise God for His blessings and love!

On a roll!

On a roll....quite literally! On August 10th, Peter rolled over for the first time! Yeah! He was having tummy time and I looked up to talk to Brent and when I looked down again, Peter was on his back! How did THAT happen?! So I turned him back over onto his tummy and we watched as Peter wiggled his little bum so that he turned on to his back. I of course got it on video and then again on still camera. I put the still pics on the blog because I don't know how to put in videos (anybody out there know how?). We are so proud of little Peter and can't wait to see what he comes up with next!

Sa-wing, Batta!

Peter has gotten a few little baseball outfits - isn't he adorable?! We think he may be the next great baseball player - move over Barry Bonds, Osterberg is up to bat!!

He is getting better at "tummy time", although he still starts to squeal after about five minutes. :) We are having a great week so far. We were able to see Brent's sister, who was in town at a convention and we have been able to just enjoy being home. Peter is becoming more alert and no matter how hard he is crying, if you step outside he immedeatly stops and looks around. The Lord is being so gracious to us. Brent and I were discussing last night how we even count our trials as blessings. In the ladies fellowship at church I am reading a book called "The steadfast heart" by Elyse Fitzpatrick. What an awesome read! If you are enduring a trial I highly recommend this book. Even if you are not faced with something right now, I still recommend reading it so your heart will be prepared when that next trial does come. I do not think that we have any great trial in our lives at the moment, but it is sometimes MORE benificial to speak the truth to your heart and mind when you are trial-free and more able to pay attention with a calm spirit. One of the wonderful things that the author brings up is that during a time of burden, you should not pray for release from the load, but rather for a stronger back. Praise the Lord for His enduring faithfulness and love toward us - especially love that gives discipline!

A little late, sorry!

Sorry these pictures are a little late...I meant to put them on the blog with the others and time just got away from me and I never remembered that I didn't put them are more pics of my family in Florida!

Houston bound

This past week we took Peter down to Houston to be with Brent's family. On the way down there we were able to stop and introduce Peter to more of my family including my aunt Diane, cousin Sara and husband Frank, and their three kiddos. The whole week was such a blessing to be able to be around people who love us so much and have them get to know Peter. One of the nights we were down there, Brent's parents, Doug and Nancy, gave a party in Peter's honor so he could meet all the people who have been praying for him all these months. :) It was a great time of fellowship, family and friends. We feel so blessed to have the friends and family that God has given to us. Between Brent's family, my family, church family, and everyone in between, we know that we are loved and prayed for. We count each and every one of you as living proof to how God enables us to love one another. All of you mean so much to us and we thank God for such a thing as family and friends! Praise the Lord!!

Peter was such a good baby while he was traveling - he had a lot of excitement! He went swimming, bowling, watched catfish, saw puppy dogs, went to the movies, saw an airport, and got lots of attention! When he got back home he was a little cranky because he missed all the excitement, but he's adjusting back to normal.

Water Baby

We took Peter swimming for the first time this past week. We thought that since he loves his bath so much, then swimming should just make his little heart brim over with happiness. However, Peter didn't really respond much...he didn't object to being walked around the pool and shown how to kick his legs, but he didn't become overjoyed either. Perhaps next summer he will fully appreciate swimming and how fun it really is. We had to buy "little swimmie" diapers that were too big for him....but they looked cute all the same!

Lord of the Rings

Baby Peter loves to play with his toy gym and he is getting better and better at grabbing the rings that dangle above him. He kicks his feet in excitement when the rings bang together and he likes to watch the colors as they dance in and out of his line of vision. We take the play mat with us anytime we will be gone from the house for an exented amount of time - we like to think it makes Peter feel at home. :)
